I recently received an advance copy of the new movie Labor Day -- a film about our friends and partners SEIU and their inspiring role in the 2008 election. If you're looking to recapture the energy and excitement that surrounded last year's election, I recommend this film. Not only does it feature my two very favorite hip hop artists -- Atmosphere and Mos Def -- but it also profiles the regular Americans that came out in droves to elect President Obama.
We meet several of the homecare workers, janitors and other service people that make up the membership of SEIU and see how the organization's members decided to endorse Barack Obama for president. We see them hit the streets to turn out voters for Obama, and we celebrate with them on Election Night.
