Giving citizens of Alaska--and the rest of the country--another reason to celebrate this Fourth of July weekend, Sarah Palin just announced she's resigning as governor of Alaska.
The NY Times article suggests that she's doing this to more fully prepare for a presidential run. But that seems like a pretty stupid strategy to me. Not even effectively completing one term as governor doesn't seem to build her qualifications to run the country.
I think it's more likely she's tired of being hounded by constant ethics complaints, and wasn't up for the continued fight.
Here's hoping that this takes Palin off the national stage once and for all.
Can y'all imagine what it would be like to have her one heart beat from office--or worse, at the helm--with all that's going on in the world right now (economic crisis, uprising in Iran, coup in Honduras, etc.)?
