Tell Reuters to stand by its story

Reuters has reported that Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki requested that the U.D. provide a timline for troop withdrawal. In response, the White House released a statement on Maliki's reported request, questioning whether the media made a transcription error. 

President Bush would rather dodge responsibility by claiming that Reuters made an error in its reporting than stick to his promise to leave Iraq when requested by the Iraqi government.  Reuters cannot let Bush make such absurd allegations without standing up for the truth; to stay silent on this issue would be contributing to the Bush administration's fantasy of staying in Iraq for as long as they please. Ask Reuters to clear its name by emailing Sophie Brendel, Reuters' Head of Public Relations, requesting she release a statement that Reuters stands by its story.

Letter	Dear Ms. Brendel: Since Reuters is the world's largest international new agency, I was shocked when President Bush blamed your report on Iraqi Prime Minister Maliki's request for a timeline for U.S. troop withdrawal on a transcription error. To stay silent on this issue and let the Bush administration get away with this absurd dismissal of the truth would be aiding them in their fantasy of staying in Iraq for as long as they please. I am requesting that you release a statement declaring that Reuters did not, in fact, make a transcription error and that you stand by your story.
