Let's give our troops a safety net, not a band-aid
Nobody is feeling the effects of the foreclosure crisis as badly as our troops and veterans. Foreclosures in military towns are four times those in civilian towns. The Service Member's Civil Relief Act was implemented to prevent military personnel from losing their homes during active duty and for 90 days after. But we all know that during this economic crunch, 90 days is not enough. Tell your congressperson to extend the Service Member's Civil Relief Act to 12 months. Petition Text: Our troops and veterans have made immense sacrifices to fight for our national security. Now, their economic security is disproportionately threatened. Foreclosure rates are 4 times higher in military towns than in civilian towns. Let's give our military personnel a safety net -- please extend the Service Member's Civil Relief Act from 3 months to 12 months.
