We all know that global warming is threatening our way of life.  From severe heat waves and melting ice caps to deadly hurricanes and out-of-control fires, we need to act now before it’s too late. The good news is that the solutions are right in front of our nose—more solar and wind power, less dependence on dirty fuels like coal and oil.

The Bush Administration lags embarrassingly behind the rest of the world, and we can’t afford another president who just doesn’t get it.

We cannot wait another four years for meaningful action on global warming. I am calling on you to pledge now that as president you will:

1. Support efforts to reduce total U.S. global warming pollution 20 percent by 2020.

2. Reject loopholes such as pollution “offsets” and oppose giveaways such as free “pollution credits” to dirty industries that threaten to erode real reductions in pollution.

3. Generate $300 billion in clean energy investment over an eight-year term through public commitments that leverage additional private investment.
