This summer, Progressive Future talked to tens of thousands of citizens in nine cities across the country. We’re focused on pushing President Obama’s progressive agenda through Washington—past Rush Limbaugh and his right-wing and special interest allies.
From an economy in tatters, a health care system in crisis and dirty, dangerous energy sources to an education system that’s failing our children, the U.S. faces steep challenges. President Obama has set out an agenda of far-reaching reforms on each of these critical issues.
But, there are plenty of forces working to protect the status quo. Republicans have dug in their heels—no House Republicans voted for the President’s economic recovery package or budget. The special interests are out in force: the health insurance industry is spending millions lobbying Congress, and just launched a $20 million ad campaign to mislead the public about Obama’s health care proposal. And, the right-wing noise machine is cranked up high. Rush Limbaugh says he hopes the President fails, and is doing all he can to make it happen.
