There is no place in American politics for the McCain-Palin campaign's reckless accusations against Barack Obama and the ugly response these charges have provoked among their supporters.

We reject the politics of fear and hatred. We're calling on John McCain and his campaign to renounce ignorance, prejudice and calls to violence, and appeal to what Lincoln called "the better angels of our nature."

UPDATE: On Friday, Oct. 10, Sen. McCain pledged a more "respectful" campaign. But at Sarah Palin's rally on Tuesday, Oct. 14, a member of the crowd responded to a speaker's attack against Sen. Obama with yet another cry of "Kill him!" [1]
