We’ve started a new progressive organization to take our country in a new direction—and we need a talented data analyst to join our fast growing team.
Progressive Future will tackle core progressive issues such as health care, education, global warming, and the war in Iraq. We’ll work to make sure these issues are addressed by our elected officials, and we will hold them accountable while they are in office. One program we will run will be the development of an ongoing neighborhood-by-neighborhood precinct program that will combine intensive, state-of-the-art voter identification with tested volunteer organizing and get-out-the-vote techniques.
Our organizers will be based in neighborhoods across America, talking with citizens and activating them on our campaigns. They’ll need to be working from the best data available to connect with voters. The Data Analyst will be responsible for providing critical voter data to the campaign staff in a ready-to-use format.
Working with the central management team, the Data Analyst will:
• Gather and analyze demographic, geographic, and political data from a variety of sources (e.g U.S. Census, Secretaries of State, NCEC)
• Use GIS mapping software to determine geographic distribution of demographic and political factors
• Synthesize various types of data in order to evaluate feasibility and potential scope of various civic engagement projects and strategies
• Create presentations and reports; make recommendations based on analysis of these factors
• Coordinate with leadership staff of various departments to ensure that organizational decisions are informed by the best and most current data and analysis
• Serve as organizational liaison to national political and list community; ensure we are using and sharing best practices
