We need a new direction in America, a more progressive future. Any individual who seeks to lead us into a new era—as an elected official at any level—must affirm the following priorities:

• Health care for every American—no exceptions;

• A quality—and equal—education for all of our children;

• An all-hands-on-deck effort to reverse global warming trends and bring us a new energy future;

• World leadership by example—through partnerships abroad and democracy at home.
