Friday night, we kicked off 96 Hours for Change: Progressive Future's Obamathon.
Working in Coalition with Environment America, we will mobilize thousands of volunteers to talk to tens of thousands of voters in the four days leading up to the polls closing on Tuesday evening.
If you want to get involved and haven’t signed up yet, click here.
96 Hours for Change is based upon two simple concepts:
· We need to turn out every last progressive voter this year to be 100% sure to put Sen. Obama over the finish line (confirmed by recent experience); and
· The best way to turn out voters is face-to-face contact in the final hours before the election—especially from a neighbor volunteering because of passion for the cause (confirmed by academic research).
So, over the past several weeks, we’ve been recruiting volunteers at the door, online, at rallies and events, and even bugging our friends and families.
While we were recruiting members and volunteers, we were also talking directly to undecided voters, telling folks why we think Barack Obama will bring the change we need. Here's a short video that takes you inside the campaign:

From Tuesday, Oct. 7 through Thursday, Oct. 9 more than 400 canvass directors and organizers honed their skills at three concurrent trainings in Colorado, Ohio and Virginia.
Field staff hit the ground running, heading out to open more than 60 offices in Colorado, Ohio, Virginia, New Hampshire, Nevada, New Mexico, Florida and Pennsylvania for Progressive Future and our ally Environment America. More staff are now in Wisconsin, and we wrapped up a fourth training this past weekend to get still more folks in the field in North Carolina.

Since Memorial Day, Progressive Future has been rolling out our summer campaign. We’re building staff here at our Denver national headquarters and across the Nation. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be taking on Big Oil – arguing against subsidies to polluters making windfall profits, and for sensible investments in clean new energy sources to help Americans. We’ll be advocating for solutions like mass transit, high-speed rail and Amtrak to provide commuters and travelers with affordable, quality alternatives to driving.
In the process, we're going to build a group of progressives who
can help call for real change this fall and beyond.
We'll be
sending out frequent updates about our progress and posting videos,
blogs and other messages from our staff in the field. So make sure you
and your friends have signed up to get Progressive Future e-mails and
make sure you check back frequently to hear about what's going on around
the country. Stay tuned.
