Denver, CO.  President Obama’s 100th day in office is a time for the progressive community to celebrate shared success, but turn quickly to activate citizens on critical issues, according to Progressive Future.

“Our motto today is celebrate and activate,” said Brad Martin, Progressive Future Political Director.

“Last November Americans voted for a new direction, and in the first 100 days President Obama has been true to his promise of change,” Martin continued.  “But, the hardest work is still ahead.  And that’s why we’ll be hitting the streets this summer to give the president the grassroots support he needs for the challenges to come.”

Progressive Future, a national nonprofit that “promotes progressive values through grassroots action” announced today the launch of a multi-state, two-month sustained effort to push President Obama’s broad progressive agenda past right-wing and special interest opposition in Washington.

Starting this week, Progressive Future will talk to tens of thousands of citizens across CA, CO, FL, IL, MA, MN, NY, and WA about health care, clean energy, and education.  The group will add progressives to its rapid response network, and activate these citizens immediately in support of President Obama’s plan to fix the nation’s ailing health care system—generating thousands of petitions and phone calls to Congress.

“Every day, Rush Limbaugh renews his wish for President Obama to fail, Glenn Beck rants apocalyptically on Fox News, and the health insurance industry sends its army of lobbyists to Capitol Hill,” said Program Director Adam Lioz.  “And the scary part is that if we sit back these folks have the power to stop the reforms Americans voted for last November.  That’s why this summer Progressive Future will be working to maintain the same campaign-style grassroots energy that put President Obama in the White House. ”

This campaign follows up on the organization’s work to help get President Obama elected.  Progressive Future talked face-to-face with hundreds of thousands of undecided voters in critical battleground states, comparing Barack Obama with John McCain on the economy, health care, and education.  And, it ran a focused turn-out effort in the final 96 hours, working to ensure that every progressive voter made it to the polls.

Progressive Future promotes progressive values through grassroots action.  Its mission is to build and mobilize grassroots support, both online and in neighborhoods throughout America, for progressive change.  The organization contacted hundreds of thousands of citizens to help elect President Obama in 2008, working to persuade undecided voters and turn out the progressive vote.
