Don't let Verizon off the hook
The Bush/Cheney administration is using the telecom companies as its own personal phone bugging system -- and violating Americans' privacy in the process. Now, they're trying to let their buddies in the telecom industry off the hook by giving them immunity for sharing the personal, private information of American citizens. If sharing the personal details of its customers isn't wrong, why does Verizon need immunity? Tell Verizon to hold itself to a higher standard and reject telecom immunity measures. Petition Text: National security means more than protection from terrorists -- to be truly secure, Americans must know that their privacy is also protected. Your company continues to participate in the Bush Administration's wiretapping program and lobby for immunity for your actions. If your role in the wiretapping program isn't wrong, why do you need immunity? Prove that your actions are in the best interests of national security by holding your company to a higher standard and rejecting immunity for telecom companies.
