Two days ago, I discovered that there’s another horrifically lethal and unaccountable war profiteer. It’s called L-3/Titan, and after Halliburton it’s the second biggest – and most deadly – contractor in Iraq for which to work. L-3/Titan makes about $1 billion each year out of outsourced intelligence gathering and translation services.
L-3/titan is deadly to work for. It’s more deadly, according to a new report from CorpWatch, than working for the U.S. military itself. L-3 employees – usually Iraqi translators – face daily threats of assassination for collaborating with the United States. Worse, L-3/Titan does not provide these employees with proper training or medical care.
280 employees have died already (out of a workforce of 7,000 translators and 300 intelligence experts). Employees fear speaking up because they don’t want to lose their jobs. Is L-3/Titan trying to protect them?
Nope. This war profiteer instead was celebrating its profits at a shareholders’ meeting this past week.
That’s just outrageous.
