Obstructionism at its finest - 2009-01-29
Those Republicans sure know how to demonstrate the bipartisan spirit President Obama is calling for. For nearly three full weeks, they've blocked Obama's nominee, Hilda Solis, for Labor Secretary.
Of course, the parties responsible for the block won't come forward and engage in an open debate about their concerns. Rather, they choose to remain anonymous and prefer
to cite a vague need for further answers about her viewpoints (as though her strong record supporting unions and minimum wage increases don't pretty much make it clear).
Wait...that isn't bipartisan spirit! In fact, as Daily Kos blogger
MeteorBlades notes, "Holding up the hearings on her nomination is obstructionism, pure and simple. It's something Democrats in the House and Senate need to remember the next time some gasbag Republican whines about the lack of a bipartisan spirit."
MeteorBlades has a little project going on Daily Kos, enlisting the help of the blog's readers to weed out the senators responsible for holding up this nomination. Let's help out as well!
