They're at it again over at grassfire.org. From the folks that
brought you campaigns to build a border fence and de-fund Planned
Parenthood, we now present Carbon Belch Day. Tomorrow, grassfire.org
is encouraging people to put as much CO2 into the air as possible by
smoking cigars, traveling in airplanes and driving as much as
possible. Their point? To get people to oppose legislation and
regulations that would reduce global warming pollution.
What's next from these people? Pour Gasoline on an Open Flame Day?
Shout "Fire" (or better yet start a fire) In a Movie Theater Day? Grassfire.org may not think a warming globe, increased drought and
other dramatic climate changes and disappearing coastline is serious,
but we do. We want a new
direction for this country -- away from addiction to oil and dangerous
and dirty energy sources and toward a safe, sustainable future for our
kids. And we're working hard, talking to people in communities around
the country and asking them to get involved in our work by
volunteering, signing petitions or giving donations. The best thing you can do to counter these jokers is to join our
efforts, by signing up for Progressive Future here.
Oh yeah, and we can cancel out anyone crazy enough to participate in their stupid Carbon Belch Day on June 12, by doing one of the following:
* Using Mass Transit* Replacing one old light bulb with a longer burning, more efficient CFL.
* Planting a tree.
