Have you been a progressive activist for a while?  Or just starting out
and have a fresh perspective?  Tell us where the holes are in the
progressive infrastructure.

You can start by backing Progressive Candidates.  Here in AZ CD1, we have a couple of Blue-Dog candidates running against the best Progressive candidate ever for Congress. That person is Howard Shanker,  http://www.howardshankerforcongress.com/

I have become a progressive activist as a result of a lifetime of gradual spiritual awakening.  I have been fortunate enough to have been born with the ability to see the lessons in spiritual growth that the Universe is trying to teach me in all of the trials and travails that have come my way - and there have been many.  As a result, I have become a more compassionate person who has learned that the purpose of life is to serve our fellow man.  Values?  I have biblical values just like the religious right although I don't belong to any religious denomination.  Many of you who have Christian backgrounds like I do may recall this passage in the New Testament:

Whatever you do for the least of these my brothers, you do it for me.  Matthew 25:40

This simple passage is the foundation of my political beliefs and of my activism.  I believe that I should treat my fellow man as if I were doing something for someone very special - no matter what his station in life.  I believe that I am charged to go out and do something to help and not to just watch from the sidelines.  I believe that when my neighbors are lifted up, my life will be better, too.

I haven't quite figured out where the religious right get their values from although I have a family full of them.  They are truly earnest people, but we are speaking two different languages.  I know that I live my life in a state of contentment knowing that I am doing what I am called to do.  I do not live in fear unless it is the fear that I am not doing enough due to my health issues.   I see only fear in the words and actions of the right wing of our country - guns and prohibitions and more war - forever and ever, Amen.

I am a happy progressive activist because I can say my prayers tonight before I sleep and ask my Higher Power to relieve some of the fear in the lives of those people.  I wonder what they pray about?

Angela

We have to continue to spread the word! The Good words that come from the "Good Works" from our side! So long as the Truth is spread and witnessed by many then, no matter how many lies and deceptions the other side puts out , the "Truth" will always prevail! I know this sounds idealistic but it has been happening since the Primaries and will continue until the New Democratic President is elected. With this new medium we have the power of spreading our voices with action! We each can make a difference! What the right doesn't get is that their passion comes from greed and what they can acheive for them and theirs, while the Progressive is looking at the bigger picture of the "World" and the better good of the "Whole"! We "have to" overcome or else, we're all in trouble and so is our future!

1) "A Nobel Prize winning scientist..." Doesn't he have a name?  You won't win supporters by sloppy statements like that.

2) Progressivism involves necessary sacrifice by the fortunate.  That means higher taxes on upper middle income (like me) and rich families.

When you admit that someone has to sacrifice for the good of the country, you'll get my support.

This is clean coal?

Shelley Schreiner | 2008-12-24

As a progressive with a soft spot for environmental issues, I was thrilled to help replace the worst environmental president in history with Barack Obama, who promises a fundamental shift in direction. But I squirmed in my chair when watching President-elect Obama's speeches praising clean coal as an alternative energy source. Because coal is neither clean nor safe, as yesterday's 500 million gallon spill of toxic coal ash in Tennessee painfully illustrates.
